I never expected to get involved with titling Willow. I looked at her more as just a companion to have around me. However, I realized that I could have such a closer relationship with her by training and working towards these goals of titling! And more than that, it allows me to leave a legacy of all her accomplishments once she is no longer with me. I will be able to look back and remember all of the times we spent together having fun working on tricks, or training for sports.
Although I’m reaching near the end of what I am wanting to get from her in terms of tricks, we have started into the world of AKC Scent Work, FastCAT, Barn Hunt, Happy Ratters, and companion conformation as my honorary show dog. I’m also thinking about seeing how she would do in UKC weight pull, as well as flyball. We’ve been working through the novice titles and have already started on the advanced titles. She is so smart, but also pretty cautious in new situations and doing new things. This helps to remind me to take things at her pace, not my own, though as she is getting older and more confident in life, she is reminding everyone that she’s still Goose’s daughter. She is becoming so feisty and spicy, which has been challenging my personal dog training skills, while also making her shine even more brightly to others who meet her. I am so thankful for her every day and look forward to what she will accomplish in the future!
~Lauren K., owner of Willow

Other Accomplishments:
Came in first of her heats at the Emerald Downs 2021 and 2022 corgi races, but had difficulties in the final race, preventing her from having a good run each time. Came in 2nd place out of 128 for the corgi races at the 2022 Cannon Beach Corgi Beach Day. Willow is also currently within the top 20 fastest Pembroke Welsh Corgi in 2022 according to AKC, and within the top 30 fastest Pembroke for lifetime rankings, running an average of 21.53mph. According to the Barn Hunt Association, she was also ranked 15th in 2022 for fastest average time in novice runs for Pembrokes, and ranked 7th in 2022 for fastest average time in open runs for Pembrokes. She was entered into one IABCA show in March, 2023 for the companion class, which is for altered (spayed/neutered) dogs. She won Best in Show Companion over two other dogs which was an amazing accomplishment! It made me sad that I didn’t enter her into more shows during that weekend, so I’m already starting to plan her next shows to see what else she can achieve.
